At the end of this long story about the crucifixion of Jesus in spite of the studies the three physicians produced, there were still a lot of questions open, especially about the anatomy of the crucified body in what kind of position was the head after he died what was the position of the legs when there was no more tension in the muscle’s .
Because a model is hard to find who wants to be brought in this position I had to do it myself So I made a construction in witch I could take the position of a crucified dead body without the nails .
I can tell you out of my own experience it’s a very painful positioning and the forces to the arms are terrible the position of the legs is as shown on the painting also their can be a debate
Left over right or visa versa the same as to the position of the head it can be left or right .
In the middle was no option.
My son took photo’s which was the basis for this painting.
At last the tools needed for a crucifixion the hammer and a crowbar needed to remove the nails out of the wood of the cross placed at the bottom of the cross.
